Cal Wheaton, General Partner at ABS Capital Partners a leading growth equity firm, will take us through how ABS Capital are approaching the current volatile environment, the Private Equity outlook for 2026 and the opportunities and challenges they see.

 

About the Speaker

Cal is a General Partner at ABS Capital Partners, a leading growth equity firm established in 1990, with offices in Baltimore, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. Cal leads ABS’ health care investing effort as well as focusing on investment opportunities in financial technology, human capital management, and benefit models, particularly as they intersect with the health care industry. Cal has over two decades of experience working closely with growth companies, focusing on enhancing governance and team structures, refining strategy and go-to-market opportunities, identifying operational efficiencies, and constructing aligned compensation strategies. Cal currently represents ABS Capital on the board of Viventium. Previously, Cal served on the boards of prior portfolio companies including Accurate Group, Audacious Inquiry, Bambeco, Brandywine Senior Care, ConnectYourCare, FolioDynamix, Liquidity Services (NASDAQ: LQDT), and PaySpan.

Cal joined ABS Capital in 2003 after working with growth companies as a vice president in Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown’s Health Care Investment Banking Group, as well as with Kidder, Peabody. Cal was responsible for leading equity, debt, and M&A transactions. Cal graduated from Colby College in 1992 and holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Cal is on the board of the Association for Corporate Growth Maryland.
